A easy explainer of all the ingredients we use.

Nourish & Flourish Shampoo

Aqua
Water, the basis of life! it helps to mix & bind things together. 

Lauryl glucoside
A mild surfactant which helps to produce foam & gently clean your hair & scalp.

Decyl glucoside
A Gentle cleanser which is plant-derived, biodegradable, & gentle for all hair types.

Cocamidopropyl betaine
Useful for its moisturising & organic protection abilities. It is a humectant & protein shelter, & super at cleansing hair.

Glycerin
A top dog in humectants, humectants help retain moisture — which, for us natural hair girls is a godsend. Our hair is so naturally dry, we need all the moisture we can get! One of the ways in which humectants help moisturize our hair is by grabbing the moisture that’s naturally in the air.

Citric acid
Used as a pH buffer (to adjust the pH so it isn’t too alkaline-y) in ‘Yes’ products.

Phenoxyethanol
Used as a preservative in ‘Yes’ products to limit bacterial growth.

Guar hydroxypropyltrimonium chloride
This is an organic blend that is a water-soluble derivative of guar gum. It gives conditioning properties to shampoos.

Hydrolised soy protein
A water soluble protein derived from soy that will strengthen hair & mends hair fibers. Also increases hairs ability to hold moisture while adding shine & smoothness.

Salvia sclarea (clary) oil
Superb for its qualities in strengthening hair, but better than that Clary sage has an ester called linalyl acetate, which reduces skin and scalp inflammations & heals rashes while regulating the production of natural oils in the skin. AMAZING!

Pogostemon cablin (patchouli) oil
A very effective natural oil derived from patchouli leaves, to help with simple dandruff & balancing oily hair.

Camellia sinensis (white tea) leaf extract
Considered a more potent, & less processed antioxidant than green tea. Improving hair growth, & acts as a humectant to help moisturize & condition the hair & scalp. Bonus feature, it also protects against sun damage.

Chamomila recutita (matricaria) flower/leaf/stem extract
Helps bind moisture to the hair, one of its components is a substance called bisabolol, which helps soften and make hair suppler.

Potassium sorbate
This man-made preservative is a gentle alternative to ingredients that we avoid in all formulas, such as parabens, methylisothiazolinone (MIT), and phthalates.

Amazing at softening your hair, with a fringe benefit that it gives slip while hydrating, which allows us to detangle our hair better.

Glycerin

Cocos nucifera (coconut) oil
This 100% natural ingredient is used as a nourishing agent and formula stabilizer. The natural proteins in the hair bind with the fatty acids in coconut oil to protect it from breakage.

Cetrimonium chloride
This conditioning agent is used to provide manageability and allow for easy detangling; it is partially derived from coconut and palm kernel.

Guar hydroxypropyltrimonium chloride
This is an organic blend that is a water-soluble derivative of guar gum. It gives conditioning properties to shampoos.

Simmondsia chinensis (jojoba) seed oil
It is thought that jojoba oil can prevent hair loss. Jojoba Seed Oil is also a great emollient, bringing elasticity to the hair. It’s also said to have a second-to-none “keratoplastic” effect—the ability to give hair an almost plastic-like sheen that leaves it shimmering, and brings out its natural color tones and brilliance.

Ccucumis sativus (cucumber) fruit extract
The juice is composed largely of proteins, lipids, Vitamin C, and a variety of minerals, and retains moisturising wealth galore!

Benzyl alcohol
A preservative which protects Yes products from spoiling by destroying microorganisms.

Citric acid
Used as a pH buffer (to adjust the pH so it isn’t too alkaline-y) in ‘Yes’ products.

Dehydroacetic acid
A preservative which protects ‘Yes’ products from spoiling by destroying microorganisms.

Aloe barbadensis (aloe vera) leaf juice
It is amazing on our curls, coils, and waves. It promotes hair growth and adds strength and luster to your strands while retaining moisture. It also alleviates itchiness and dryness and soothes inflamed and sensitive scalps, reduces dandruff, and is a great conditioning agent.

Pullulan
Pullulan has been used for creating opulent smoothness for your hair, with a decend side of strength to hold your style in good form!

Cyamopsis tetragonoloba (guar) gum
Guar gum is approximately 75% dietary fiber. It helps thicken the product (which is nice) and condition the hair (which is even nicer). It is film forming (creates a protective layer), helps against static electricity and aids combing out both wet and dry hair. Guess what else guar can do. It also has the amazing ability to bond to the hair for longer lasting styling! HALLELUJAH!

This oil will promote hair growth by nourishing the scalp and balancing the production of sebum and natural oils. Its anti-bacterial properties make Geranium Oil a superb choice!

This is best know as a foaming booster! As well as its gentle cleansing ability is a safe alternative to sulfates (which we avoid in all formulas). It is 100% natural, and derived from corn, wheat, coconut, and palm kernel.

Hush Hair Oil

Helianthus annuus seed oil (Sunflower seed oil)
Sunflower Oil provides your scalp and hair with the nutrients they need for healthy, strong locks. Thanks to its light, sheer texture, it’s legendary for controlling frizz, reversing dryness and damage, and leaving hair soft, shiny, and manageable. Meanwhile, it also nourishes the hair, prevents breakage, and prevents color fading.

Oenothera biennis (evening primrose) oil
Wonderful at soothing & moisturising the skin, scalp, & hair while enhancing elasticity.

Vitis vinifera (grape) seed oil
In hair products, Grape Seed Extract is commonly used as a deep moisturizer, sealant, shine enhancer, and heat protector from blow drying and flat ironing. It prevents frizz, mends split ends, and helps keep hair stronger and healthier so it can grow longer. Especially superb for curly hair because it helps define and moisturize their coils while being lightweight enough to not weigh down their locks. Containing a high content of vitamin E, which is fantastic for natural sun protection, and keeps hair color from fading.

Backhousia citriodora (lemon myrtle) leaf oil
A powerful antioxidant, antimicrobial and anti-fungal. In aromatherapy, it is valued for its fresh scent with uplifting benefits on your emotions and the ability to soothe, body and mind.

Tocopheryl acetate
A natural occuring antioxidant, vitamin E is best known for its properties that help reduce free radical damage & protect the body’s cells.

Rosa canina (rosehip) fruit oil
It acts as a sealant or as a top coat to lock in softness and create shine and luster. Since Rose Hip Oil has a similar molecular structure to the oils found in human skin, it’s absorbed quickly and easily by our scalp and our hair, helping to keep them moist and balanced. Its linoleic acid minimizes water loss in our hair (ensuring that each strand stays optimally hydrated). It provides moisture and plumpness and rejuvenates brittle, lifeless locks.

Macadamia ternifolia seed oil
Those fatty acids help to add shine, strengthen, and nourish the hair follicles, without weighing down as it easily absorbs into the skin and hair shaft.
